Meet The People Sessions

Jk its just meeting my friends hahahah (I thought it was rather funny) . I've just realised that 90% of meet-ups are over food!! Which is quite fun because conversations are better over good food plus its fun to make use of the opportunity to explore new places to eat hehe. But of course you have to say goodbye to money :( ALSO I'm so angsty now because I dropped my phone and cracked my entire screen!!! It looks so disgusting I can't take it!?!?!  Plus there's like shards of glass on it which is quite dangerous?? Sighhhhh all it took was that one second it hit the ground to make me feel horrible :(((

Any way, trying to move on with a more positive vibe, I met Rachel last Fri! We walked from One-North MRT to Hoopla Cafe at Inifinite Studios which nobody should ever do. It was humid, the walk was so long plus it started to rain quite heavily 3/4 into our journey which sucked and after we finally made it we realised there was a shuttle bus HOORAY!

We both had the baked eggs which I really enjoyed! But what was ridiculous was the 5 slices of avocado which cost $4.50?? I could buy 2 avocados for $4.50 ?!?! Then after an hour or so , we made an impromptu decision to go get some bingsu which was really yum :) I had such an enjoyable morn-afternoon that Friday!! (THANKSRACHEL <3)

Went to Guac&Go with Bron and Justina on Wed! I had the Smoked duck and mango salad which was deeelishhh!!

Then we all shared the Tropical Fruit Smoothie bowl which was super refreshing and it settled our stomachs!

As we were walking towards Tanjong Pagar mrt, we just randomly walked into a coffee shop to get some coffee and it was surprisingly good! Plus cheaper than bux YAY . We also all saw a sign that read " Ice cream cookie & Co " (something like that) and Bron immediately went for it and bought the Mint Chocolate Brownie for $8 !! But she was happy and I guess that's all that matters hahaha

Random shot I took which I thought looked quite cool

#clasmianca reunited! Met up with Claire and Bianca for some ramen at Star on Fri!

Then after Claire had to leave to go back for lessons, I followed Bianca back to NTU ----> FUN! Though it was a long journey there and back home, I'm so glad I did it because it was so enjoyable! I managed to visit her hall and attempted to make Rachel's bed AHAH yay the hall life seems fun and the room seemed so cosy, it made me so excited to move into my own hall too :)

This was my breakfast this morning!!
My thought process :
1. Yes this is going well so far, they're perfect banana coins in a semi circle
(moving on to the strawberries)
2. Ok excellent, they're all equal in both size and thickness
(moving on to the blueberries)
3. Yes its looking good, perfectly lined up!!
(moving on to the raspberries)
4. Oh yeah they all fit in that tiny space between the bananas and strawberries!
(moving on to the coconut peanut butter as a whole chunk just drops onto the perfectly lined up fruits)
5. OMG IT'S RUINED!!!!
and then I don't even bother to salvage it and continue plonking the nut butter onto the bananas and just sprinkle some chia seeds and be sad at my breakfast-that-had-so-much-potential-to-look-pretty-but-got-ruined-right-at-the-end.

Colour Walk!

Went for the Colour Run on Sunday! Well I say walk because we literally ran for only 2 mins in total - we are so not lazy!! However, walking made the whole run so much longer and we complained quite a bit on how long we were taking to finish the course and even went to buy Gong Cha halfway haahah but it was still rather fun in the end , and this year we were so much cleaner than in 2013 hooooraaayyyy

While we were still clean!!

Took a pit stop at the beach

My absolute favourit-est photo!

Met Rachel after the run! YAY (:
These photos are evidence of how much more coloured and dirtier we were in 2013!! We went to IKEA to eat after and everyone was staring at us hahaha

After the run we waited 1 hour for a taxi at beach station :( The queue wasn't even that long but taxis just weren't coming in but finally we got one and went to Kim's place for dinner. Well supper really because we only reached at 9pm . We had laksa steamboat which was sooo yummy and we all ate so much and was so full but it was so satisfying! and finally we went to take a shower and just chilled in Kim's room and slept. I then woke up at 5:45am to go to the airport to send Iwen off! I felt like death when I woke up cos we only slept at 1:30 the previous night but I'm still thankful that Kim lives in Simei so I could sleep more. Met Bernice at the airport too and it was nice just being all excited and talking to her about uni!

I'm so excited for everyone who's starting uni!! It's such a new and thrilling chapter in everyone's lives! The whole experience of it - making new friends, learning something that you're actually interested in and even traveling, is just so enticing (:

Ew at gross morning face
Then I went back to Kim's house to sleep more and we all woke up at 10am - which is the latest I've waken up for the past few months!! Had a yummy breakfast of a beef sandwhich from last night's steamboat and then Chin Hui came to pick Kim up and conveniently could send Natalie and I home :)

Thoughts

1) Health & Fitness

One reason why I can't wait to go to Edinburgh is that the grocery shopping there will be cheaper than in Singapore especially when it comes to health foods!! The variety of health foods in a Whole Foods, Tesco or Waitrosse is so much better than it is here plus it's cheaper! So in my head I'm thinking : it'll be easier and cheaper to cook healthy food there, which I'm really excited for (but only in my 2nd year when I hopefully get a flat) . That brings me to the point that sometimes I get so motivated to cook up a really healthy meal, or bake a really healthy thing but once I think about the expensive ingredients I have to buy ( e.g whole wheat flour, maple syrup, quinoa, kale etc) I just become so unwilling to do it :( and I also just want to say that I get so tired of being health conscious sometimes and it really annoys me and stresses me out. For example , on any day that I decide not to go to the gym, I don't feel like myself and the worse part is : GUILT , which really shouldn't be the case because honestly I exercise like at least 6 times a week so a day off wouldn't hurt right?? It's also really frustrating when I feel obligated to drag my unwilling, lazy ass to the gym sometimes when I really don't feel like going. I also feel so much guilt when I eat something unhealthy? I may eat it willingly and tell myself " it's alright, as long as its in moderation it's fine" but after that the thought of the calories and if I will look any different the next day just eats into my brain and drives me crazy!! But on a positive note , nothing beats the post workout feeling, period. Especially when it's a morning workout and you just feel so energized and for the rest of the day you don't have to think about going to exercise cos it's already been done! I just wish that I can not feel as much guilt as I have been feeling for the past month whenever I don't exercise for a day. Just have to keep reminding myself : MIND//MATTER.

2) Relationships

Building a relationship is really a joint effort but I feel that with most of the people around me its always a one sided thing? Im not talking about my family, non-existent love life, but more of friendships. I can't help but feel that I'm usually the one taking the initiative to ask others if they want to meet up and don't get me wrong, I do it willingly because I love my friends and want to keep in touch with them as best as I can, but it gets tiring at some point and sometimes frustrating? and often they reply with " Omg yes I miss you so much let's meet up soon! " and I just think to myself : If you really did miss me that much, wouldn't you have talked to me first? I probably sound really petty and selfish but I don't really care cos it's how I feel :( With that aside, I do always have a great time when I meet my friends regardless who organized the meet up, but it's just nice if more than once in a while someone else takes the initiative to organize an outing. That brings me to another point of company. Company meaning the people that I hang out with. I've come to realized only recently that I have a hard time saying no to people or expressing how I truly feel and that ends up with me obligating myself to meeting up with people whose company I know I do not enjoy. From these unpleasant experiences, I've decided that I will try to spend time with only those who's company I enjoy and to be brave in saying no more often to the things that I'm unwilling to do. Life's too short to be wasting your time on the things that you don't enjoy!!

3) University

I'm having so many mixed feelings about it - as many people do. But I'm getting slightly worried that it hasn't yet hit me that I'm going to be living overseas for the next 4 years and be studying there. Even when I got my acceptance letter, did online student registration, applied for a visa and read up on all the freshers week events, it still doesn't feel real. I guess I will only feel it when I'm actually there, standing on campus. I'm also really apprehensive about making new friends!! Freshers week overseas is different from the local universities in the sense that there is no fixed orientation camp with activities already planned out for the day and groups that you will be sticking with for the duration of the camp, they just give you a timetable of activities that will be happening , and you just attend whichever event that interests you! So I guess it's much more pro-active in a sense that you really have to put yourself out there and make the best effort possible to mingle and socialize! But on a happier note, I am also excited to be meeting new people! I also really hope that I will love my course and my school and that I will have the self-discipline to study really hard and make my parents proud. They've really supported me in every way possible and I feel so bad that they're paying so much for me to study overseas and I really want to try to pay them back as much as I can.

I feel much better after expressing my thoughts and getting those stuff off my chest so now I can have a good sleep! Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day cos I'm meeting Rachel for breakfast ( so excited I really miss her ) and then going out for dinner with mum and sis and watching Masterpiece in Motion! :)

The week after the long weekend

Mon : Met up with Claire and JX for brunch at Curious Palette! Had a lovely morning with them just catching up and I realised I haven't met up with them in a longggg time so I'm glad we did (:

After that I went for a mani with Justina and then we headed to the gym , then we went to esplanade to support Windson in his outdoor performance of Singapore musical songs ☺️

  Singapore is so beautiful :')

Tues : Had tea with Aunty Eena, Nadia and Natalie and mum at Marmalade Pantry in ion. It was so worth it? $38 for 2 which is really so affordable! Plus the food was great (: I tried the Smore's cupcake which was part of the tea but it sounded much more promising than it tasted :(

but anyway, so Natalie is in her final year in the University of Edinburgh so I was asking her so many questions on starting school - how was it like and if she enjoyed it and stuff and talking about it with her just made me even more excited about going there! But till now it still hasn't really hit me that I'm actually going there to study but I guess it'll only feel like reality when I'm actually there. After tea I headed to the gym then home for dinner!

Baked breakfast bars to go! And they turned out so well☺️
Thurs : Helped mum take pictures of her school children in the morning which I enjoyed a lot more than expected (: they were all so cute and kept posing for the camera! Then went to watch Mission impossible for the 2nd time w Boris and of course we sneaked in food hahaha I had a salad and sushi and he had sushi and kettle chips! There were 3 super annoying females in front of us that kept talking, laughing and screaming during the movie OMG COULDN'T TAKE IT .

Fri : Had a homemade smoothie bowl which was deeeeelicious‼️

Then met up with Nat, Wen and Bern at Park Bench Deli which just opened and I had the quinoa salad which was really really yummy! Then we headed to Teppei and I shared the Barachirashi with Nat and it was soooo yummy๐Ÿ‘…

Then I headed to town to watch Fantastic 4 with Jie, Bron and Ben! And honestly it was the best movie ever‼️๐Ÿ™Œ  totally being sarcastic, but It was so bad it was quite funny actually . Sometimes I wonder with such bad movies like this, doesn't the director see that it's bad?? Or the actors and actresses even? With the months of shooting do they not feel that they're not putting up good material? Idk man hahah. With that aside, had such a great time with Bron and Ben as usual!!

Then Justina and I had to head home to be a slave to the mother cos she had friends coming over and we had to help out in the kitchen ๐Ÿ˜’

Sat : Banana and avocado smoothie for breakfast which was super yummy! It was made out of half an avocado, a bit of Greek yoghurt, a frozen banana and coconut water, then I just added a teaspoon of chia seeds on top. Then I had the other half of the avocado smashed up onto a rye cracker and Tanjong Ru pau!

Then I went to the gym and then ballet and then chilled at bux reading my book while waiting for Kim and Zhongwei. We then went to collect our colour run packages YAY SO EXCITED FOR IT๐ŸŽ‰ Then had Marutama for dinner and honestly they have the best ramen and their egg is to die for๐Ÿ˜ฑ we tried Milk & Honey( @ City Square Mall) after it was pretty good! I prefer it to llaollao and the price was reasonable too. There's just this sense of satisfaction that comes from trying new food that's super yummy and worth the price!! & it makes me so happy๐Ÿ˜Œ

Shared the Lilac Dream which was filled with lavender flavoured stuff (:
Love :')

Gardens By The Bay

On the 8th of August, my family decided to go to Gardens By The Bay in the evening to look at the conservatories and to have dinner there as well. We reached at about 4pm and it was crazy ass crowded. To beat the crowd, we decided to buy tickets online whilst queuing up for tickets so as to speed up the process and it worked! So in the end we only queued up for 20 mins and the tickets were only $10 each?! Because of the SG50 deals ohyeah. It was my 2nd time there ( I first went in J1 to do CIP and they let us tour around the place for free yay) and yet I was still blown away! First, we went into the Flower Dome, then up the Super Trees and then were told that we were not allowed into the Cloud Forest because it was too crowded at the moment, so we then decided to go after dinner. Dinner was in Majestic Bay which was a chinese seafood restaurant and the food was a-m-a-z-i-n-g . I didn't take pictures though cos everyone was digging in immediately after every dish was served. After dinner, we fortunately managed to go into the Cloud Forest and it was a blessing in disguise because the waterfall was simply magical at night!! Also, everyone needed a long walk after that heavy dinner

It looks like its pouring glitter!
I am so glad that my grandmother came along with us on this trip and she was so excited and kept telling us that we didn't have to pay the entrance fee for her because she had her pioneer generation card hahaha. On a side note, the gardens is seriously such a beautiful place!!
